My drawings and mixed media observations are a direct response to the landscape and a device to access ideas and colours for my fine art textiles and a vital element in the process.
Some of my favourite destinations include the Islands of Iona, Harris, Lewis and Tiree. All with their own very distinctive character.
I love to hike into areas that are less visited and can usually be found at the remotest point. I have always loved being in the countryside, hillwalking and cycling so it is only natural that I take my art to the outdoors.
When working outdoors in my sketchbooks I use a combination of graphite, watercolour and colour pencils giving me a variety of options for mark making. These studies are then developed back in the studio to create finished paintings and constructed textiles.
